NCAA threatens championship ban over California law

The following video is brought to you courtesy of the RT America YouTube Channel. Click the video below to watch it now.

A bill in the California legislature proposes that student-athletes be compensated for name, image and likeness. NCAA President Mark Emmert is adamant that the bill negatively affect players it intends to assist, making national championships unfair. If the new bill ultimately passes, it wouldn’t come into effect until 2023. Brazilian surfer Filipe Toledo gave his home fans a treat winning the men’s final at the WSL Rio Pro. He dominated South African Jordy Smith, taking the victory by more than nine points. On the women’s side, Australian Sally Fitzgibbons became the new world number one after taking out American Carissa Moore in the final. RT America’s Steve Christakos joins Scottie Nell Hughes to discuss.
